Arataki Visitor Centre is known as the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park and is located on Scenic Drive, 6km from Titirangi. It is the major source of information for those wanting to explore the Ranges and attracts a large number of locals and tourists each year.

Auckland Council has proposed a cafe be built within the centre to cater for those visitors. It will extend out towards the ranges on the existing viewing decks, allowing for approximately ten tables, seating 36-40 people. The cafe structure will be mostly glazed all around so as not to hinder the magnificent views that the Waitakere Ranges have to offer.

ACH Consulting were engaged by Auckland Council to provide structural assessment of the existing viewing deck and the structural design of the proposed cafe and deck extension.
