Beach Front Bach Design Challenge

The proposed bach is a single storey residential dwelling with 2 separate split-level guest house and a boat shed. The stunning beach front property is situated at North Cove Kawau Island and can only be accessed via boat or helicopter. It has an architectural design that makes the house look as if it is floating when viewed from afar during a high tide. Due to the complicated nature of the design, the main structure which is mostly glazed all around the exterior, is made up of structural steel beams and columns to resist wind and seismic loads.

It has an open plan interior with a sophisticated lighting for a floating roof effect. Architectural designer is Mark Butler of MD Design Ltd. Structural and Stormwater Design by ACH Consulting Ltd. Consulting Engineers.
