I started my career as a draftsman with the Department of Lands and Survey in 1983. Then followed a period of employment with Fletcher Forests in 1986 where I had exposure to and developed an interest in structural and civil engineering design. As my interest in Engineering grew and having completed an NECD and the obligatory ‘OE’ I decided to return to University as a ‘mature student’ and undertake a Bachelor of Engineering. I joined ACH Consulting (at that time Dainty Alderton) as an Engineer after completing my BE in 1995 and after a short stint with another consultancy in the late 1990’s I returned to what is now ‘ACH’ early in 2001.
I managed the newly formed Albany office from 2001 until amalgamation with our Henderson office in West Auckland in 2008. Late last year we designed and built our now office in Westgate and I now oversee a team of structural engineers and draftspeople who focus on high-end residential and commercial design and miscellaneous structural engineering projects.
In my opinion, good Engineering should produce resilient and visually appealing structures. We love to work with Architects to bring their creativity in to the real world, and contribute to positive outcomes for asset owners across the country.
